Feeling Homesick at Home

So I realize I am quite behind in my blog, but I have just been so busy, so any spare moment I have had I have used to sleep! I spent a few weeks in Winnipeg, my hometown, visiting friends and family I haven't seen in a long time. I have to say, while it was so great so see everyone, it's also very stressful coming back for a short amount of time and trying to jam pack everything in, my days were full every hour with coffee dates, dinners, appointments with no down time (I realize that no one feels sorry for me, it's not like I have a real job or anything!). John and I both also got sick, and neither of us have been sick once on this trip. Just shows that land life does not agree with us anymore!

John and I took my niece Lily to a place called Sky Zone, which is probably one of the coolest things and a great way to tire kids (and adults) out. It's wall to wall trampolines, it even has dodgeball, volleyball, basketball and adult aerobics. After 10 minutes of jumping, John and I could barely move or breath, but were sadly told we could not lie down on the trampolines, and realized we still had another 50 minutes of jumping left. After almost a year on a boat, we were in no shape to do intense jumping. Needless to say, my 7 year old niece schooled us.

Flip into the pit! fun, but really hard to get out of after...

This looks really bad...I swear they get along
Annnnd we're done
Out for dinner with the newlyweds

Peak-a-boo!
Winnipeg's famous ice cream
He's really smiling because he ran away from the mosquitoes
Some sites from where I grew up, notice the flooded bridge that we couldn't cross, too much snow!
John went back to Long Island to spend time with his family, while I stayed in Winnipeg and spent some more with mine. This was our first time being apart for more than 3 hrs in almost a year, it was weird! But I was busy having many a sleepover with my beautiful niece, and caught up with friends and some cousins I hadn't seen in a couple years. I learnt that my cousin David actually crossed the Atlantic with his Dad when he was younger on a sailboat, so apparently sailing is in my family!

Last but not least was my grandmothers 90th birthday bash! There was quite a turn out, there was a jazz musician as well a several performances from our family, including my grandmother performing a salsa number with her walker as her dance partner! I made her a crown, and she wore it the whole day! You go girl!
The party people!

As much as I was glad to see everyone, I was really missing Topanga, and didn't realise how much she has become my home, and that's where I feel the most relaxed and at home, can't wait to be back!
